The representatives of twenty Czech and Slovak companies engaged
in production, trade and research of products of iron and steel
metallurgy met on November 11, 1992 in Prague in order to transfer
existing joint ventures into the joint-stock company Hutnictví
zeleza, a.s.. HZ,a.s. launched its activities on January 1,
1993.

Activities
The activities of the Company were initially separated into two
main divisions (a division of professional services and a division
of entrepreneurial activities). The entrepreneurial activities
became independent in 1993 by creating limited liability companies
wherein Hutnictví zeleza, a.s. retained property share at least to
the extent of a forced minority. Thus, five limited liability
companies were founded but the Company sold its shares at later

International Activities
In the interest of quickly getting nearer to metallurgy abroad,
the Company became an affiliated member of IISI (International Iron
and Steel Institute), the international institution associating the
foremost non-state manufacturers of metallurgical material in the
world. This way, the Company is able to provide conclusive
up-to-date information about world metallurgy and also transmit
other activities of this institution to its shareholders.
