A word from the president
When steel companies write long-term plans for the steel
industry development in the Czech Republic and Slovakia they base
their predictions on facts the republics will soon develop into an
economically advanced countries with effective industry, civil
engineering, agriculture and well-developed infrastructure.
This should be displayed in level of steel consumption
corresponding rather to upper part of the consumption range of the
industrially developed countries, i.e. per capita consumption of
500 kg. In such environment, the role of steelmaking is
irreplaceable.
This is a foundation giving a real starting chance for the steel
industry in the Czech Republic to compete for a participation in
this consumption by its entrepreneurial activities in combination
with the pro-export activities. This defines in itself best the
possibilities and the necessity of steelmaking to aim to stay in
the competition zone of steel manufacturers, suppliers and
processors and to the role of state where it is necessary to
emphasise primarily the need to install the course of macroeconomic
policy corresponding to the standard of advanced countries. This
means, among others and laconically said, to create incentives for
year-to-year growth of GDP at least by 5 % in economic
environment.
We hope we will be supported by the bodies of State Administration
where this is within their competence and possibilities, that also
banking is acquiring more comprehensive view on the situation as
well as future possibilities of the branch. We also believe that we
will be able to meet the requirements of our customers and to lean
also on domestic suppliers.
On this occasion, we thank all business partners, State
Administration, Members of Parliament, members of institutions we
are co-working with for fruitful relations. In the same way, we
must thank our foreign partners on the level of federations or
institutions.
We believe this website will provide a useful information which
will make you acquainted with the Czech steelmaking
