Co-operation with international organisations
In the interest of quickly getting nearer to metallurgy abroad, the Company became an affiliated member of IISI (International Iron and Steel Institute), the international institution associating the foremost non-state manufacturers of metallurgical material in the world. This way, the Company is able to provide conclusive up-to-date information about world metallurgy and also transmit other activities of this institution to its shareholders.
In 1991, responding to the needs of intensifying contacts with the EU, Hutnictví zeleza, a.s. became an associated member of Eurofer (Association of Steel Manufacturers in EU).
The contact function of the Company was irreplaceable and highly relevant when negotiating particular procedures for completing the Association Agreements with the EC. Also, HZ took part in negotiating arrangements with some other countries, for instance, Finland, Austria, Hungary, e.g. in negotiating business relations, realisation of agreed volumes of export of steel products incl. tubes, and discussing tariff and non-tariff trade terms especially in connection with the so-called sensitive commodities.
